From an early age, Dr. Ray was captivated by the transformative power of beauty. This passion has driven him through a remarkable career as a beauty educator, trichologist, motivational speaker, and life skills coach. He believes that beauty is not just skin deep; it’s about enhancing self-esteem and fostering a sense of belonging.
As a prolific author of twelve publications, Dr. Ray shares his wealth of knowledge with aspiring beauty professionals, guiding them to find their unique voices in the industry. His workshops are infused with heart, focusing not only on skill development but also on personal growth and the importance of exceptional customer service.
Dr. Ray has made his mark on television as the main judge in Chris Rock’s acclaimed HBO documentary, “Good Hair,” where he showcased his expertise and passion for hair care. He played a vital role in creating the striking logos for Oxygen's “Hair Battle Spectacular” and was responsible for the beautiful hair pieces featured in the promotional ads. Recently, he brought his charm and expertise to the Netflix series, *We Are The Champions*, where he continues to inspire audiences.
His talent as a Board Certified Master Colorist and former Regional Training Director for Mizani/L’Oreal USA has earned him numerous accolades, including the “Cosmetologist of the Year Award” in New York State in 2006 and in Richmond, VA, in 2011. These honors are not just trophies on a shelf; they represent his dedication to excellence and the belief that every stylist can achieve greatness.
Dr. Ray runs a thriving professional salon, spa, and trichology center in New York City, where he nurtures talent and fosters creativity. Through his education company and ten-salon franchise, BEAUTY WERKZ, he offers advanced training in nine areas of beauty, empowering the next generation of beauty professionals to shine.
With a Ph.D. in Clinical Trichology from the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, and a post-doctoral degree from the National Institute of Cosmetology (NIC), Dr. Ray’s academic journey adds depth to his practical experience. He is also a Certified Trichologist and Licensed Massage Therapist, blending the science of hair and wellness with his artistic vision.
Dr. Ray’s heart lies in his homeland, Antigua and Barbuda, where he is passionately committed to uplifting the beauty industry.
