Let the Balay Lama® take you step-by-step on how to become the master of your brushstroke! Techniques covered: Money Piece®, Skimming, Minking™️, Color Melting and so much more!
 
Students are required to bring: A color apron and all your burning balayage questions.

In this class, you will learn the fundamentals like never before from master hair expert, Presley Poe! Presley will teach you with the newest innovation in haircutting, The Cutting Wheel, a fail-proof way to navigate any haircut easily. Presley will teach techniques you can implement immediately to keep your chair full without breaking your back!

You will learn:

• How to use your clients body position to work for you
• Presley’s simple, yet super effective chart to help you navigate every haircut without getting lost
• How to work with the texture of your clients’ hair for the perfect photo finish
• Learn perfect formulas for styling curls
• How to cut with absolute ease

Learn updo extraordinaire, Kell Grace’s, efficient and profit-increasing techniques in this Hands-on Workshop! Kell will teach you easy, efficient ways to create updos in just minutes. By using her techniques, you will better manage your time, increase the amount of clients you can service and make more money! Kell will teach a variety of updos, including:

• Single braided chignon
• Stacked Twisted chignon
• Interlock
• Figure 8
• Classy Mess

After Kell’s demonstrations, you will have the opportunity to practice under her guidance using a mannequin head which you will get to take home with you.

Students are required to bring: Bobby pins (large and small), hair ties, tail comb, brush and sectioning clips

Included in the workshop: A mannequin head will be provided for you to practice on in the workshop which you can take home with you.

Candy Shaw's coveted French Cutting system will open your eyes to a whole new world of possibilities using your shears. Don't just learn another haircut - rather, immerse yourself in a vast array of cutting techniques that will allow you to create soft, seamless, and wearable styles on demand. Like her balayage system, French Cutting is much more efficient compared to the traditional British Method, increasing your profitability at the chair. Candy will explain the benefits of cutting everything on top of the finger, building layering from the top down, and utilizing face shapes to create custom looks for your guests. If you are looking for something fresh and new to bring back to the salon, French Cutting will set you apart from the rest and your guests will feel the difference! Techniques covered: Interior, Exterior, Mèche-a-Mèche, Dry Texturizing, Reverse Exterior, and so much more!

Students are required to bring: Straight cutting shears, water bottle and a learning attitude!

Included in the workshop: A swag bag, sponsored by Sunlights, along with a mannequin head will be provided for you to practice on in the workshop which you can take home with you.

Join some of the best barbers in the industry and put your skills to the test to compete for the title of Total Look Champion NYC!

Each registered barber will be given 40 minutes to execute a total look including wardrobe, color, cut, & style. 
Your competition registration ticket includes your ability to compete plus access for you and one model to the exhibit hall floor and over 100 free classes at IBS New York.

Important information and guidelines: 

• Competitor’s model must have a significant change like a#2 or equivalent on the top before competition begins and a 1 ½ after as least.
• Cut must incorporate scissors and clippers. Please bring the tools you may need to the competition.
• Pre color is encouraged for total look (can range from natural to vivids)
• Competitor can create any design, without a reference point such as paper, cell phone, tablet, etc.
• Competitor can create any design using his/her skill and imagination only.
• Creativity with good taste is encouraged.
• THIS IS NOT A FANTASY COMPETITION.
• Points are deducted for ill-preparation.
• NO GLITTER.
• Competitor will be judged on speed and the finished product.

There will be two rounds of this competition with 12 participants each with three rounds of judging.
